For the past ten years, MSHBA has been representing and serving the collective interests of residential builders and associated professionals in the Calumet area. Community Service Involvement
Membership in your builders association allows you to give back to the industry that has given you so much- Mid-Shores Home Builders Association has a long tradition of supporting charitable causes in the Calumet County area. We look for opportunities to support and give back to the communities in which we live and work. Projects include:
- The Cummings Family Community Project
- Several wheelchair ramps
- Building for Habitat for Humanity
- A remodel project for the New Hope Center
- Restoration of the New Holstein Historical Society’s Timm House
- An annual food and toy drive for the Salvation Army Bread of Life Assistance Center
- Installing playground equipment for the City of Kiel
- Scholarships for area students.
Members receive the invaluable benefit of eligibility to participate in MSHBA’s annual events showcasing members’ talents, services and products, while promoting the industry and value of home ownership to the public. The annual spring Home & Garden Expo showcases the latest products and services available whether you are building or remodeling your home. The annual fall Parade of Homes features new home construction as well as remodeling and additions within the Calumet County area. These targeted annual events directly reach thousands of people planning to build, buy or remodel!

As a member-led organization, opportunities abound within MSHBA for you to get involved AND to create strategic business partnerships that benefit you and your company—they can be fun too! There are so many ways to get involved—both formal and informal. For example, participate in the annual monthly networking and business meetings, a Member Spotlight, a Cookout and Casino Night and a Trap Shoot. Attend the monthly meetings—they are informative and entertaining!
Beginning January 1, 2008, contractors and remodelers will need a new credential in order to pull building permits in Wisconsin—a Qualifier Credential, issued by the Department of Commerce. 12 hours of continuing education over a two year period is required to comply with this requirement. MSHBA along with the WBA will offer discounted classes to members. Classes include modules on:
- Contracts, specifications & Plans
- Codes, Regulations & Construction Practices
- Customer Service & Ethics
- CAPS & other designations

The association along with the BIC Council of the WBA promotes, develops, defines, and encourages the distribution of information about Wisconsin’s economic climate and the importance of job creation in the building industry to the general public of Wisconsin. Our goal is to encourage public policy that will lead to greater economic opportunity and a higher quality of life for Wisconsin’s citizens.
Protect and Promote the Building Industry (Government Affairs)
The Association acts as a source of timely and reliable information concerning the local building industry, and works to eliminate overly-restrictive and costly building laws and regulations that drive up the cost of housing. MSHBA provides a forum through which businesses can work together to remain informed regarding new and proposed governmental policies which affect the housing industry.

From NAHB - The HBA Bookstore offers an array of useful tools and reference materials to help you in your daily business needs. Critical news and information is available to NAHB members through publications, e-newsletters, exclusive website content, and a national staff of industry experts to address your specific business questions – economists, legal research staff, financial experts and regulatory and technical specialists. Members receive a comprehensive weekly news summary of the housing industry, and a free subscription to Builder Magazine. Members also have access to specific industry segment publications such as sales and marketing, remodeling, etc.
From WBA – WBA publishes a monthly newsletter and a bi-monthly magazine to keep members informed on issues affecting builders across the state. WBA advocates for changes to state laws and building codes, etc. to promote affordable and safe housing, and endorses candidates who support the home building industry.
